No one has ever told Madhav Jha and his love, Riya Somani, what they should do to be together. No parent, no priest even. So they do the only thing that seems sensible: find a way to sneak around their parents and elope to America. But when Riya’s family announces her engagement to another man she met at university in America, Madhav can’t take it anymore. The story revolves around Madhav Jha (Paresh Rawal) who returns from America USA to India to find that his girlfriend has got engaged to someone else. Will he convince the girl of her true love and win her back? The shooting of the film was wrapped up on 18 February 2013. The venture is directed by Ravi Jha and also stars Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Neha Sharma in prominent roles. The movie was screened for critics on 27 March 2013 at the Osmania University. The movie had a total budget of four crore rupees. Paresh Rawal had to be hospitalized for exhaustion after this film, which is said injured his vocal cords and forced him out of the film Kehar Ke Panchi (2015). This movie released 25 September 2013 in over 1200 screens in India. Riyas back to back movies went below expectations, so much so that the makers backed out of the project. But the director who was also one of the producers tried to take it forward by taking it to Bollywood. The film was titled Half Girlfriend. This means half of her love is with Madhav Jha. Like any other love story, this one too had its ups and downs, but finally it finished up on 26 March 2015. The film received mostly negative reviews by critics; though Paresh Rawal's performance was praised for his comic timing and dialogues, his role as a dedicated artist wasn't appreciated either. Akshaye Kumar's role as a jilted lover was also poorly received by critics. The film received mixed to negative reviews from the audience as well. The film has a total collection of 3.10 crore in its first weekend and 2.20 crore on second weekend. In the third week, the film had a box office of 1.00 crore making it a moderate success at the box office numbers especially with low budget films that have been doing well in those segments of the cinema going arena. cfa1e77820
